OpenStudy (nathalyn):

The opposite angles of a cyclic quadrilateral add up to 180. A cyclic quadrilateral is a quadrilateral with the four vertices on a circle. y + (3y + 8) = 180 y + 3y + 8 = 180 add the y terms: 4y + 8 = 180 subtract 8 from both sides: 4y = 180-8 = 172 divide both sides by 4 y = 172/4 = 43 Angle R = 3y + 8 Put y = 43 and calculate R.
