OpenStudy (anonymous):

If p − 1 is a factor of p4 + p2 + p − k, the value of k is ..... I have no idea what this means

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think you might be over your head with these problems am i right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is there anyway to punch it in to that site to help me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can explain, but i am not sure you will understand my explanation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

very but I have to do them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if \(p-1\) is a factor, that means when you replace \(p\) by \(1\) you get zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so put \(p=1\) set the whole thing equal to zero, then solve for \(k\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so p means 1 and I just set up the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah \[1^4+1^2+1-k=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or just \[3-k=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow so its zero that's it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no k is not 0, k i s 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok im so sorry im confused lol
