@Trey..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is your first step?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have the equation and you have the variables

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi there, I will leave to expertise of @imasofty

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok we have 4(x-y) and our variables are x=-2 and y= -4. tell me what you are stumped on then i will tell you what to do about it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright do you mean that when you plug in the -4 you also have a subtraction sign there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uhhhh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no wait 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where di you get 10 from show me your stpes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 4 lets find out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok well first off we need to solve everything inside the parenthesis. so lets do that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11=4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11 is not equal to 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don tknow where to start with that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from the 4 that gets equalld by 11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im going to guess you just want me to give you the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kind of. I got lots of work to do

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iamsofty, all you need to do is replace the x and y in the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah duh @iamsofty

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know the answer in mot going to do it for him

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold on lemme google

OpenStudy (anonymous):

he needs to learn the steps ima guide not a calculator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B GOT IT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WHY DIDNT I JUST USE GOOGLE FOR THIS? LOL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4([-2] -[-4])^4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there ya go

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got it done so much fastar

OpenStudy (anonymous):

bye iamsofty

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see ya

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@HelpMePlease1999 must have been pleased gave you a point

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no someone else did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, right, we do our best, that is all you can do, dont beat urself up!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not going to give anyone the answer i will only let them figure it out with a little help. i now they know the answer or how to get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they just need to know they can do it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iamasofty, the answer is easy, just substitute x = -2 and y = -4 into 4(x-y)^4 which gives 4([-2]-[-4])^4 = 4(-2+4)^4 = 4 (2)^4 = 4 x 64 =16+ 240 = 256 explaining it is a little more difficult
