what was the population change like during the second industrial revolution in the north south, west and Midwest?

OpenStudy (photon336):

The second industrial revolution affected the north in a positive way but there was also a high influx of immigrants which increased the population by a large amount. The economy was in good shape largely. however in the south the economy was still recovering from the civil war, and the population was low. in the midwest/west there were labor unions and the economy was strong in addition to the numbers of Chinese immigrants that came which increased the population there.
