OpenStudy (amberlykhan):

If you divide a five-digit number by a one-digit number, what is the largest possible remainder you can get?

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

i think its 8

OpenStudy (amberlykhan):

Why? @ikram002p

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

well as 9 is the largest one-digit number that we can divide by, it has 8 as the largest remainder of 8, but let me rethink about it they might be a trick :)

OpenStudy (amberlykhan):

OK, a trick would be helpful, thanks.

OpenStudy (amberlykhan):

I get it now. 8 is the correct answer, thanks! @ikram002p

hartnn (hartnn):

so this applies to *any* digit number right? and not only 5.... if you divide any number by a one digit number, the largest remainder is always 8 ???

OpenStudy (ikram002p):

well @hartnn i think so xD
