Why 3 equations? The question is "how old are WE now?". Is it not that now, We are 70 years-old? It doesn't ask how old am I and how old is my sister now. Am I right or am I crazy??

all I understand that that if the past ages of boy and his sister consider x and x/2 respectively then their present age is 3x

so let make equations 
past ages  let at 1 year their ages were 
x+x/2=3x/2
now after one more year it will be 
x+1+x+1/2=3x+2/2 and after 15 year their ages are 
x+15+x+15/2=100
does it make sense?
