What parts of Dalton’s atomic theory no longer agree with the current picture of the atom? Provide an answer using 3 – 4 sentences in your own words.

OpenStudy (lfreeman1285):

The first part of Dalton's atomic theory states that everything in the universe is made up of atoms, and that they are indivisible and indestructible. However, through modern science, we have found that atoms are destructible through nuclear reactions. Dalton's atomic theory also claims that all atoms of the same element are identical. This has also been proved false because isotopes exist.

Thank you! @lfreeman1285

OpenStudy (lfreeman1285):

No problem :)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Atoms are not destructible but divisible.
