pleaassee help I will medal and fan parallelogram is shown below: A parallelogram ABCD is shown with DC equal to 3 feet and the perpendicular distance between AB and DC equal to 2 over 3 foot. Part A: What is the area of the parallelogram? Show your work. Part B: How can you decompose this parallelogram into two triangles? If this parallelogram was decomposed into two triangles, what would be the area of each triangle?

@Hero ?

@jigglypuff314

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

halllloooo Area of a Parallelogram = (length of side) times (perpendicular height) in this case (length of side) = 3 feet (perpendicular height) = 2 over 3 feet

OpenStudy (torii897):

so 1.8

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

hmmm are you sure? 3 times (2 over 3) ?

OpenStudy (torii897):

3.6

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

not quite :) that's adding 3 times 0.666666 ?

OpenStudy (torii897):

1.999998

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

which is 2 :P

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

there you go ;) for Part A

OpenStudy (torii897):

thank you :) what about part b?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

it's a little confusing I suppose you could draw a line from B to D (which would make the parallelogram into two triangles) but in any case, it would simply divide the area in half so used the area you just found before and divide it by 2 :)
