Coral reefs can be found in oceans at about 150 feet deep. Coral reefs need sunlight to survive. Reefs need vitamin D from the ocean water so they can grow bigger, which is easier to get in shallow water. One reason why coral reefs are important is because they remove and recycle carbon dioxide.
