Will fan and medal please help!!! The metal wire in an incandescent lightbulb glows when the light is switched on and stops glowing when it is switched off. This simple process is which kind of a change? a physical change a chemical change a nuclear change an ionic change

@Koikkara

OpenStudy (koikkara):

@WhatEven well, what was your opinion about the question ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think ionic but I can't just guess it's for a quiz...

OpenStudy (cuanchi):

Why do you think the wire glows?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Uhg, physical change then maybe? I dunno. \(._.)/

OpenStudy (koikkara):

i would say, this is an example of resistance, which provides light and heat. which means it's a ------- change ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Chemical!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or no? >.<

OpenStudy (koikkara):

why chemical ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because it provided light and heat?

OpenStudy (koikkara):

does sun show chemical changes on your skin ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well it gives you skin cancer....

OpenStudy (koikkara):

and creates a change on your skin physically...right ? the...wat change it is ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So physical?

OpenStudy (koikkara):

http://www.explainthatstuff.com/incandescentlamp.html will clear your confusion ! may be..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Hayleymeyer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:(

OpenStudy (koikkara):

Hmm..The metal wire in an incandescent lightbulb glows when the light is switched on and stops glowing when it is switched off. This simple process which takes placethrough chemical reactions in a process called bioluminescence

OpenStudy (koikkara):

And so i suggest chemical change... not physical as no change in bulbs coil takes place, and not ionic as ionic changes produce no light.

OpenStudy (koikkara):

does that help you ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It does, thank youuuuu

OpenStudy (koikkara):

\(Nice~to~meet~You~!\) @WhatEven

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You too! Would you be willing to help with a few more?

OpenStudy (koikkara):

ofcourse, if i know'em !!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks! (:

OpenStudy (cuanchi):

I think that the process is a physical change.

OpenStudy (koikkara):

@Cuanchi \(Good~Question~!\) Well, does burning of film, when a bulb glows shows any physical change to its surrounding glass or the film ? film glows bcuz of heat but doesn't change the film or its shape. but when you refer luminescence you find the real change.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure what it was cause when I said chemical it said incorrect, but I passed the rest...
