Quadrilateral ABCD in the figure below represents a scaled-down model of a walkway around a historic site. Quadrilateral EFGH represents the actual walkway. ABCD is similar to EFGH. EFGH is shown where EF is 72 ft. ABCD is shown where AB is 6 in. BC is 3 in. CD is 3in. and DA is 4 in. i have to find out the length of the actual walkway.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how can u use subtraction to describe division

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know but if you subtract by the same number several times like 15-5-5-5=0 it would show that you divided by 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if this is wrong then i dont know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks can i ask more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u divid by zero why or why not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello

OpenStudy (anonymous):

EF is proportional to AB Since you know the length of EF and AB you can do 72/6=12. 12 is than the scale factor to find the length of FH you can do 12BC=36, GH=36 and EG=48
