A Punter Kicks A Football. Its Height (H) In Meters , t Secondds After The Kick is Given Byy The Equation : h=-4.9t^2 + 18.4t + 0.8. The Height Of An Approaching Blockers Hand Is Modeled By Equation : H=-1.43t +4.26 , Using The Same Time . Can The Blocker Knock Down The Punt? If So , at what time does this happen ? @peachpi
This is pretty much the same question. These were the steps. 1. set the height equation equal to each other. 2. make one side equal to 0 3. use the quadratic formula to solve for t. Starting at the top, what does it look like when you set the equations in the problem statement equal to each other? draw it out if you need to.
Ok Sooo
But This Equation Is Sooo Much Longer.
It's not actually. There was a quadratic function with 3 terms and a linear function with 2 terms for both. What do you have so far?
Nothing Im Confused .
ok well we've worked 2 of these problems so far, and you're no closer to knowing how to set them up. Perhaps you'll benefit more from someone else's methods because it doesn't seem like mine are helping you learn this.
@peachpi Yes It Is
