simple algebra question i think its 58??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's what i got also so im gonna go with 58

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yw

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

I got 58 too. all by doing PEMDAS ... with the bracket and then do what's in the bracket first. . . what is up with the choices given?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no clue.. i was hoping you guys would have a different idea.. maybe it is an error with the question. thank you all!

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

is there a none of the above as a choice? because I would pick that. the calculators I'm using all point to 58 as well.

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

I've done it by hand and then confirm with wolfram or some other PEMDAS calculator out there.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, theres only 3, 6, 12, and 40. but if there was a none of the above i'd choose it as well.

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

oh... report that question. it's 58 when PEMDAS is enforced.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe if we dont do pemdas or reverse it we'd get one of their answers, so that's what im trying to do

OpenStudy (ali2x2):

i got 58, i think there is no possible solution for this question ._. report it to a teacher if possible.

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

maybe whoever came up with the choices didn't even do the problem in the first place.

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

or it must be one of those stupid common core guestimating answers ughhhhhh!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well.. i had to guess because that's pretty much all i can do. the teachers dont reply as fast.

OpenStudy (usukidoll):

well I will also complain to the teacher. Because if you're marked wrong, that's unfair. Some teachers don't do their jobs correctly, and it expands to the university level. I've been there.
