Can someone please help me with positive and negative exponents? I fan and medal! What is the value of the expression? (–4)^4

imqwerty (imqwerty):

well if u r given something like \[a^b\]then it means that u r multiplying a with b number of a's for example if u r given-\[(-2)^3\]then it means that u r multiplying (-2) with 3 other (-2)s so u get - -2 x -2 x -2 =-8 so in this case u have (-4)^4 can u tell how can u expand it? :)

Do I flip it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2*3 is 6

imqwerty (imqwerty):

well u \[(-4)^4\]jst means that u r multiplying (-4) with 4 more (-4)s :) so u can write \[-4^4\]as -4 x -4 x -4 x -4

Ok

imqwerty (imqwerty):
