I don't think its expressing surprise or anger or pain. And I don't believe its in any way sudden.

explicit- stated clearly and in detail, leaving no room for confusion or doubt. interrogative- having or conveying the force of a question. implicit- implied though not plainly expressed.

Exclamatory would sound expressive, and interrogative is a question so you can eliminate both of those.
