Use the image below to answer the following question:
A right triangle is shown. The two angles that are not 90 degrees are marked x and y. The leg across from angle y measuring 12, another leg across from angle x measuring 16, and the hypotenuse measuring 20.
What relationship do the ratios of sin x° and cos y° share?
The ratios are opposites (16 over 20 and negative 16 over 20)
The ratios are both identical (16 over 20 and 16 over 20)
The ratios are both negative (negative 16 over 20 and negative 16 over 20)
The ratios are reciprocals (16 over 20 and 20 over 16)

OpenStudy (welshfella):
sin x = 16/20 = 0.8
sin y = 12/20 = 0.6
so grab ur calc and just find the angles whose sines are 0.8 and 0.6
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so find the sin of .8 nd .6?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
but the question is what is the relationship they have

OpenStudy (welshfella):
on ur calculator it will be the key sin-1 or maybe arcsin
OpenStudy (anonymous):
sin-1
OpenStudy (anonymous):
53.130 when i do sin-1(.8)
OpenStudy (welshfella):
yea enter sin-1 then 0.8 or on some calcs its the other way round
OpenStudy (welshfella):
yes thats right

and sin-1(.6) is 36.869 or .36.970
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so what now?
OpenStudy (welshfella):
i make it 36.87
those are the answers
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I'm confused
OpenStudy (welshfella):
oh i hadnt seen that
cos y = 16/20
so cos y = sin x
