CHECK MY ANSWER? Determine if the graph is symmetric about the x-axis, the y-axis, or the origin. r = -5 - 5 cos θ I got y-axis.
do u have a graph to attach
@jim_thompson5910 @ganeshie8 @mathstudent55 anybody? please check my answer?
there is no graph with the problem. i plugged it into wolfram alpha
I don't really like how wolfram alpha sets up their graphs and how there's no customization The online grapher "fooplot" is a better choice for polar plots http://fooplot.com/plot/dreqosz0s8
Well that looks completely different from the wolfram alpha one!
From wolfram I got that the graph was symmetric along the y axis and with this one im getting its symmetric along the x axis..
what did you type into wolfram alpha?
-5 - 5 cos θ
I see. It's thinking you want to graph y = -5-5*cos(x) on the regular cartesian xy coordinate system (not the polar coordinate system)
if you type in "-5 - 5 cos θ polar", that key term "polar" at the end, you get a polar graph
Oh, alright, I see...
fooplot is still a better choice though because you can move the graph around, zoom in/out, etc
So it seems my graph will be symmetrical along the x axis after all
correct
Thank you very much for your help : )
you're welcome
