peer pressure might cause someone to do drugs because all of their friends and peers might be doing it. Like at a party if drugs are offered they might feel like they are being uncool or left out. Media sometimes makes drugs look cool, for example, Miley Cyrus. Kids might look up to or like a certain celebrity and then they see or hear them doing it and then they think abut whether or not they should to. Some might just be curious as to how it will make them feel, if it will feel good, nice, bad, cool, like that. Some might be depressed so thats when the emotional pressure comes in. They might feel depressed and sad that they just want to get out of their own heads, feel relaxed, etc. Social pressure is same as peer pressure, they might feel they need to do it to fit in since all of their friends or the cool kids are doing it. I have had a few of my family members suffer from drug addiction, or substance abuse. Their reasons were pretty much just getting mixed in with the wrong people at the wrong time. Some people may also abuse drugs to "escape" from the way they are feeling about something; may it be depression, eating disorders, paranoia, maybe even a past experience. All addicts are different though, they all may have different reasons for their abuse. Hopefully this helped!
