What are the independent, dependant and controlled variables of the experiment: Does the amount of salt in water affect the freezing point?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Can you list all the variables?

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

independent = variable that you are able to manipulate dependent = variable that changes as a result of the independent variable controlled = what aspects you keep constant through out the experiment

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The independent variable is what you are changing (quantity of salt), the dependent variable is what you are measuring (the freezing point or temperature), and the controlled variable is what you are keeping the same (quantity of water). Usually, there are many controlled variables; this is because there are many factors that can affect the results of your experiment, which can potentially cause your experiment to become inaccurate.
