Julie and her sister came to a long stretch of road and at a certain point on it, they left the road and walked at right angles across a field to a large clump of flowers. Julie stopped to pick some of the flowers 40 meters away from the road while Lucy went another meter farther on. Suddenly they looked up to see a bus going along the road heading towards town. When they had decided to ride home, the bus was 70 meters away from the point where they had left the road to walk across the field. They ran at half the speed the bus traveled to the point where they left the road and missed the bus.
