write an equation of the line in standard form with the given slope through the given point: 2; (1,4)

Just got the same question from someone else, so I'll just copy and paste my explanation here: Here's your basic equation for a line. y=mx+b m is your slope, and you're given a slope. So your equation so far is y=2x+b. Now you want to plug in the (1,4) you're given. You'd plug in 1 for x and 4 for y, and then you could find what b is. Does that make sense?
