The coordinates A (0, 0), B (0, 6), and C (3, 0) are graphed and connected together. What three-dimensional shape will be created when this shape is rotated about the y-axis? Provide an explanation for your answer to receive full credit.

OpenStudy (unofficialllyy):

@anitasonia98

OpenStudy (unofficialllyy):

Okay so the 3 points make a triangle, and I know that when it's rotated it'll make a cone but I need to elaborat

OpenStudy (unofficialllyy):

elaborate more

OpenStudy (welshfella):

what kind of triangle does it make?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm actually not sure how to elaborate on this one :/

OpenStudy (unofficialllyy):

Yeah me either...it's like obvious. And @welshfella a right triangle I think

OpenStudy (welshfella):

points A and B are both on x -axis and Point C is at y = 3 directly above the origin

OpenStudy (welshfella):

- right a right-angled triangle theres nothing more to elaborate on , I dont think.

OpenStudy (triciaal):

meant y = 6 not y = 3

OpenStudy (welshfella):

Its because its a right angle triangle with the right angle at the origin that it forms a cone when rotated around y-axis.

OpenStudy (unofficialllyy):

Right, I get it. Thanks :)
