After all the linear approximation when the two polynomials are being multiplied and the orders of x greater than 2 are being dropped it says = 1 + 2x^2.... but I see 1 +0x + 0x^2....

I see the problem now. The right polynomial needs a bracket in (2x)^2 that was missed
