An enzyme is basically protein in cells that lowers the activation energy of a reaction. Without the lowering of the activation energy the reaction would require more energy than the body can produce. Therefore, the necesary reactions that require energy like breaking down things like glucose will not occur. In the case of glucose, if it is not broken down, energy can not be obtained which has its obvious implications... death of the cell!

The answer is A because enzymes lower the activation energy of reactions: the minimum energy that molecules need to make a reaction happen. This way, enzymes make the process go much faster, somethimes up to millions of times as fast as the process would go without an enzyme. So without the enzymes reactions would go too slow.
