Vocaloid (vocaloid):

well, the number line tells us that x = 20 and x = -20 any ideas on what the answer could be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

nope, not quite, do you understand what absolute value is? (I'm talking about |x|)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mhm a little

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

well, when we take the absolute value of a number, we only consider its distance from 0 on a number line so, for example, if x = |4|, then x could be equal to 4 or -4

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

since 4 and -4 are both 4 units away from 0

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

with that being said, any ideas on what the answer could be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes I got it :) hope for a good grade

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

*|x| = 4

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

ok, great
