By any chance does someone know which one would be the independent "weight on spring" and "distance spring stretched"

Independent variable here would be the weight on the spring since the weight on the spring stretches the spring. On the other hand, distance of the stretch would be dependent variable because it depends on the weight on the spring exerting a downward force or whatever the direction opposite to the compression of the spring.
