Simplifying Square Roots!!!! I need help!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need help simplifying these square roots. I'm having trouble with the steps. \[\sqrt{32}\]

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

what are the factors of 32 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1, 2, 4, 8, and 16

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

any of those numbers have a square root?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

possible square root of 16, possible square of 8, possible square root of 4

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

\(\huge \sqrt{16 \times 2} = \sqrt{16} \times \sqrt{2} \)

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

we can do it like this too \(\huge \sqrt{8 \times 4} = \sqrt{(4 \times 2) \times 4} = \sqrt{4} \times \sqrt{4} \times \sqrt{2} \)

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

oops it didn't fit \(\large \sqrt{8 \times 4} = \sqrt{(4 \times 2) \times 4} = \sqrt{4} \times \sqrt{4} \times \sqrt{2} \)

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

I think the rest looks pretty obvious and you can do it by yourself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay I think I got it.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

great!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks for your help.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

no worries
