I continue to assert that you need more background. You need to study "like terms". This will help you to stop making the same error. 3 dogs + 2 cats Can you simplify that? No. 3 dogs + 3 cats + 1 dog Can you simplify that? Yes. 4 dogs + 3 cats You cannot add 6y to 23. They are not "like terms".
