Kisha and Rae are asked to solve –5x – 14 = 2x + 7. Identify where one of them made an error. Kisha Rae –5x – 14 = 2x + 7 –5x – 14 – 2x = 2x + 7 – 2x –7x – 14 = 7 –7x – 14 + 14 = 7 + 14 –7x = 21 Negative 7x over negative 7 equals 21 over negative 7 x = – 3 –5x – 14 = 2x + 7 –5x – 14 + 5x = 2x + 7 + 5x –14 = 7x + 7 –14 + 7 = 7x + 7 + 7 –7 = 7x x = – 1 (1 point) Rae made the error when she added 7 Rae made the error when she added 5x Kisha made the error when she subtracted 2x Kisha made the error when she divided by –7

rishavraj (rishavraj):

wht do u think whose solution is correct??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B

rishavraj (rishavraj):

u mean Rae made the error when she added 5x???? why so??? its totally fine u see.... bcoz of tht step x gets eliminated from a side of the equality

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry

rishavraj (rishavraj):

Rae added 7 on both sides which makes no sense all......though if she would hav subtracted 7 then it would make some sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im still confused sorry

rishavraj (rishavraj):

if she would hav subtracted 7 on both sides it would be -14 - 7 = 7x + 7 - 7 -21 = 7x x = -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks so much

rishavraj (rishavraj):

yw...:)) btw u undrstood?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me with more questions i have?

rishavraj (rishavraj):
