OpenStudy (welshfella):

I'll have to check it out but i think ⊂ means ' a subset of'

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yes it means A is a subset of B and A has fewer elements than B like {1,2} is a subset of { 1,2,3}

OpenStudy (welshfella):

and ∩ means an intersection of A and B - that is a set containing common elements of A and B so iun the above case A ∩ B = {1.2} so what do you think - is the proposition in the question true?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

by the way ∅ means 'the empty set' - A set containing no elements.

OpenStudy (welshfella):

A ∩ B = {1,2} - is that an empty set?
