I'm not sure how to start this.

don't go word for word, as it is plagiarism and you'll get a 0. Both Beowulf and Grendel differ greatly by their characteristics. For instance, Beowulf is brave while Grendel is a coward. Beowulf decides to fight Grendel with no help and Grendel chose to attack the Danes while they were sleeping. This shows that Beowulf is not afraid to fight his enemy head on while Grendel wants to surprise his enemy, so he may have the upper hand. Beowulf shows many characteristics of a hero, such as, selflessness and loyalty. He proves this by coming to another country (where he does not live) to defend the citizens. On the other hand, Grendel is the villain who has no care for anyone but himself and shows that by destroying others property. Their similarities are very few, but while in battle both are determined fighters. Another similarity is that Beowulf and Grendel fight all fights with no weapons.
