I love fictional writing! My personal tip would be this- Don't be cliche. Don't just think outside the box...just get out of the stinking box...(who wants to be in a box anyways?)

ROUND YOUR CHARECTERS!!! That's the best information I can give you. Do not make the main character (or any character) like yourself. Give your character flaws (i.e. Self hate, depression, overly sensitive, worries over everything, con't cook, cant sing, cant swim). And give them passion for people and activities. Give them people they love and people they hate. Give them a history and stick to the history you give them. (otherwise your story will be confusing. Have you ever read a rookie book where the author tells us that the mother is dead and then suddenly, five chapters later, mom's suddenly alive again... ya, don't do that. Make a history, stick to it.) Their history can be as plain an everyday persons, but it must be unique to them! DONT MAKE THEM THE SAME AS EVERY OTHER "fanfiction" or "self written Wattpad character" OUT THERE.
