To find the axis of symmetry or the x-coordinate of the vertex, you must use ________ . y = mx + b.x = -(b/2a). x = h (x + n) (x - n)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no sense

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Theres 3 answer choices that do not make any sense.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh sorry the fourth one is (x + n) (x - n)

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Theres two formulas you must know in dealing with parabolics. 1. finding the solutions to the number of real solutions in a quadratic, the discriminant: \(b^2-4ac\) 2. the vertex of a parabola will always be solved for x, unless the parabola is turned in a different direction. this is represented by: \(x= -\dfrac{b}{2a}\)

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Correction: #1 does not just reference real solutions, but it also tells you possible imaginary solutions as well.
