Please check my answer! Medal + Fan For the equation y = 2x^2 − 5x + 18, choose the correct application of the quadratic formula.

I think it's A, but my mom thinks it's B, so I'm not 100% sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know the formula for the quadratic equation, but I wasn't 100% sure cause B is a negative. So it really should look like -(-5) not -5

OpenStudy (freckles):

-(-5)=5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My mom thought it was B, because once you simplify -(-5), it becomes positive. But I know that you simplify the radicand before you do anything else, so I wasn't sure if it was A or B.

OpenStudy (freckles):

mommy was right since -(-5)=5 not -5

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

a = 2, b = -5, c = 18 take the opposite of the value of b to go from -5 to +5 so choice B is the only one that fits that has +5 as the first thing in the numerator

Okay, thanks guys. I'll put B.
