OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

Which is a sentence fragment? A. She carried two books, a notebook, and her purse. B. Yesterday waves crashed against the jetty. C. A cup of milk, two eggs, and a bowl. D. He mentioned it, but nothing more.

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

I think its C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well a sentence fragment is an incomplete sentence, or pieces of a sentence disconnected from the main clause. It is basically a sentence that still needs to be combined using punctuation. So which of these sentences seem incomplete or in fragments?

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

I'd say C or D.

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

Most likely D, though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well a complete sentence consists of a subject and a verb. If it does not have both, it isnt complete

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

Okay, so it's definitely, D, no?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you see any possible subject for D?

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

I was thinking, 'it' could be a possibility.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well im stuck between C and D they both are incomplete Which one is more incomplete though?

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

Hmm...same. They are both tricky. :I I'm leaning more towards C.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C has no subject D has the subject "He mentioned it" it being the main subject, mentioned being the verb C has no verb So what would you say the correct answer is?

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

C, because fragments doesn't have a subject or verb.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes! :p

OpenStudy (gabbyalicorn):

Thank you! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

np (:
