PLEASE HELP!!! MEDAL!!! Aren't the 'weight' and ''mass' the same????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no weight is a force and a vector quantity w=mg

OpenStudy (clamin):

so what does mass and volume measure??

OpenStudy (clamin):

@surjithayer

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Hello! Mass is an intrinsic property of a substance which tells us about its inertia and amount of matter content while weight is a kind of force which earth (if we are calculating the weight due to earth) exerts on a body.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Mass is always constant but weight changes. For example if you go to moon, your weight will reduce because force due to moon is lesser than that by earth but your mass will be same.
