can someone pleas help will meadl

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Rushwr

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10(1+3b)+15b=-20

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

What's the question? Let's see your best work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u please explane no direct answer

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

What do you suppose we might do first?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Q.10(1+3b)+15b=-20

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Okay, writing the problem down is a good first step. Now what? Are we solving for b? You had better get all the 'b's on one side of the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

... and everything else on the other side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do u *

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

"no" what? We're not solving for b? I guess we'll need a problem statement. What are we doing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we are doing distribute ,combine and solve

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

This is why you need to produce the ENTIRE problem statement and SHOW some work of your own. MUCH confusion can be avoided. Solve for what?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

What's preventing your from doing that? Show the distributive property... 10(1+3b) = ?? Go!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

40 becuase 1+3=4*10=40

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Where did he b go? Please demonstrate the distributive property. Do NOT try to solve the whole problem. 10(1+3b) = ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so first u solve the (1+3b) frist

OpenStudy (rushwr):

10(1+3b) + 15b= -20 Resolve the bracket 10+30b + 15b= -20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i just add

OpenStudy (rushwr):

yep !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did u get 30b

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You still have not demonstrated the Distributive Property. a(b+c) = ab + ac That is what you do. Demonstrate: 10(1+3b) = ??

OpenStudy (rushwr):

10*3b = 30b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what did u do with the 1

OpenStudy (rushwr):

1*10 = 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it is 55

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Rushwr am i right

OpenStudy (rushwr):

nop

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

lime. You're not listening. SHOW us how to apply the distributive property. Stop trying to jump to the end of the problem.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

|dw:1441083679701:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so tell me what i have to slove frist i need to know becuase ihave 6 to do befor i go to bed

OpenStudy (rushwr):

it's like this 10(1+3b) = 10 x 1+ 10 x 3b = 10 + 30b now put it on to the equation 10+30b+15b = -20 From now onward you have to go in the normal method.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the normal method just adding

OpenStudy (rushwr):

yep

OpenStudy (rushwr):

u can only add the same type of numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry if i am giving u a hard time

OpenStudy (rushwr):

no no just go ahead !

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You should find the time to practice ONLY the Distributive Property. It will help you constantly if you are not struggling with it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry if it is wrong i got 55

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 35

OpenStudy (rushwr):

okai now see 10+30b+15b = -20 right? now u add up the b parts 10+45b = -20 right? now take that 10 to the other side so we cann add -20 and 10 45b= -20-10 45b= -30 so b = -30/45 = -2/3 got it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

got it

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Awesome !!!!!!! ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are we done

OpenStudy (rushwr):

yes. so if u want to simplify it more divide -2 by 3 and u will get a value like -0.666

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank so much
