https://gyazo.com/10a3396431bbd8bb38bf022ce7c5a933 Looking for some explanations not just answer. Appreciate it.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well first, do you understand the summation notation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I have already taken pre-calc along with AP Calc......just looking for some help to jog my memory.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Did you try solving the sums? They are not very hard ones.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nah, gonna go do it right now....I remember a shortcut for this though other than solving each one.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, there are some rules where you can transform sums. Sort of templates.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

It is just that with such small sum sets, I am not sure if it would make much difference.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

And this PDF has some nice details and examples: http://www.mathcentre.ac.uk/resources/workbooks/mathcentre/sigma.pdf

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's exactly what I was looking for, thanks. Anyways my answer was B.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@e.mccormick Let me know if it is wrong by any chance.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yah, the others are 14.
