if you can, take lessons. if not, try to practice moving your fingers from note to note as fast and accurately as you can. try to make notes in your music so you have a better understand the things you're playing. make sure your lip positioning is right where it should be for a better sound. and make sure to keep your flute clean (:

The longer you can hold your breath, the better player you'll be. Trust me, secretly I am Beyoncé.

One thing that really helps is that even when you are not playing the flute, exercise your lips so that they can hold that position for a long time, because your mouth gets sore after a while...

Expand your boundaries and get comfortable playing different kids of music, but also practice practice practice! One you do that you will get better. :D
