If I have a 93 average in world history and I take a test worth 50% percent of my grade and I score a 70% or higher on it, what is my new average?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

The test is worth 50% of your grade. So the other stuff you've done (hw, projects, quizzes, etc) are the remaining 50% of your grade. That other 50% is what you have now, which is the 93% average. So 0.5*0.93 = 0.465 is the portion of hw, projects, etc ---------------------------------- If you scored 70% on the test worth 50% of your grade, then that is worth 0.7*0.5 = 0.35 now combine 0.465 and 0.35 to get 0.815 so if you scored 70% on the test, then your overall grade would be 81.5% anything higher on the test leads to a higher overall grade
