@ccieux @JoannaBlackwelder

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Hm, well, one way to look at negative number is less than a "0" standard value. Like some places are lower than sea level, or a negative height.

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

So, if you wanted to compare two places under sea level,

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

You could multiply the height by a factor to find how many times lower one place is than the other.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay and can you explain what opposite numbers are?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@JoannaBlackwelder

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Opposite numbers? Like numbers with the same magnitude but different signs?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

That's it, like 9 and -9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay but can you explain what they are in words

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

numbers with the same magnitude but different signs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks !

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

No worries
