A stereotype is a generalized or oversimplified view, usually negative, of something or someone.
Stereotypes usually show that a person or character has put little thought into his or her evaluation of someone else.
Stereotyping a person or group can also lead to prejudice. Prejudice means an intense dislike of or hostility toward an individual or group, not based on fact, but on what a person imagines another to be like. Stereotypes and prejudice go hand in hand.
Stereotype = a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.
