OpenStudy (rayman5766):

The vertices of a trapezoid are shown below. P(0, 0), Q(4, 0), R(4, 7), S(0, 14) This trapezoid is dilated about the origin by a scale factor of 3. What is the location of point S'? A. (3, 42) B. (0, 17) C. (3, 17) D. (0, 42)

OpenStudy (rayman5766):

I said it could be c but I don't have any graph paper

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well the distance from P to S is how far...?

OpenStudy (rayman5766):

p is 0 and s 14

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

so what distance is it...?

OpenStudy (rayman5766):

oh wow I didn't put to much thought in to this now thinking about B

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

when you find it, the distance is along the y- axis... so using the scaling factor of 3 and multiply the length by 3 then that will be the new location of s on the y-axis
