OpenStudy (anonymous):

A human embryo doesn't need the kind of yolk that is present in a chick embryo. Explain.

OpenStudy (miranda090701):

The human embryo eats the yolk in the first couple of days and can breath because of it.

OpenStudy (miranda090701):

its not as reliant on it as the chick embryo but it would die without it.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Yolk is basically stored food for the developing embryo. Chick embryo gets developed inside the egg shell outside the mother's body and thus rely solely on the yolk for its nourishment but humans are viviparous. The developing embryo derive its nourishment from mother via placenta!!!!
