Can you discuss the differences between the associative and commutative properties?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

one regroups, the other actually moves things about

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when people commute to work, they move from one place to another. you commute 2 objects by changing their placement when people make new friends, they associate with different people. the associative property is when we regroup elements.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

commute: ab = ba associative: (ab)c = a(bc)
