A card is chosen from a standard deck of cards. which is 52. What is the probability that the card is a club, given it's black? A) 1/13 B) 1/4 C) 1/2 D) 4/13 There 13 clubs and 26 black so i got it down to either A or D but i need help trying figure out the top half.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

how would you define the given probability in general?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're choosing from 13 so the bottom half have to be 15 in less you can simple it from the top number which i don't know what top number is.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you are choosing from black cards .. how many are black?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

26

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so, given 26 black cards .. how many of them are clubs??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so our probability is defined as: number favored ------------- number total 13 favored out of 26 total

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you have to simple it to get the answer?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

sure, why not

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what is 13/26 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then lets not dismiss the correct answer for A or D shall we :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no we shall not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you for helping me!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

youre welcome, and good luck
