if the limit of x as it approaches c of f(x) exists, then does the limit of x as it approaches c of sqrt(f(x)) exist?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

is the sqrt of a negative number defined?

OpenStudy (clara1223):

no it's not

OpenStudy (clara1223):

so no, it doesn't exist? because if c is any negative number then it doesn't exist?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thats what my gut tells me ....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=limit+of+x+to++infinity%2C+sqrt%28-4x%2Fx%29 as a simple test .... the limit as x to inf of; -4x/x = -4, but its sqrt does not
