TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

POLL. How do you think moderators deal with spam posts? i. Delete the post. ii. Close the post. iii. Ignore the post (if it's already closed).

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

My reply: iii.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

And, what do you think moderators should do with spam posts, if they don't do it already? Choose from the above three options.

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

well not all mods are the same XD awhile back @e.mccormick deleted a lot of spam in one of my questions (it was my fault XD) but for the majority I would say option 3 and I think that they should close the post but if it continues to delete the post, if that makes sense

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

I feel like deleting spam is best because then it keeps the site clear. However, I feel like ignoring closed posts and giving out warnings is also effective

OpenStudy (samsungfanboy):

The Mods don't even say anything... They just go ahead and delete because there's no use to reply to it. Mods are cool like that ;)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what type of post? question posts that are spam in nature, or reply posts that are spam in nature? if a question post is full of spam, then deleting all of the spam is not practical ... we have to go one by one and delete each individual posting: hit 'delete', wait for dialog box to ask s if we really want to delete it, hit ok, scroll to next spam and repeat.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if the question itself is spam, deleting the question seems the best route. now, people who respond to spam postings, are simply adding to the spam problem itself and are not helping anything.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

talking about spam posts

thomaster (thomaster):

Well if the post is closed it's not much of a problem anymore If there's offensive stuff in it just pm the link to a mod, more chance to be seen than when it's reported.

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

thomaster (thomaster):

@BloomLocke367 hm that's odd... mods should be approachable in my opinion...

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

@thomaster, that's what I think too...but the majority of those I've seen aren't.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

most of them are inactive, so no point messaging them ;p satellite is a mod who doesn't moderate and being 100SS he gets a lot of desperate messages for help, so that is why he has it only set to users who he has fanned can message him lol

Elsa213 (elsa213):
