Some mental illnesses are learned from whatever environment you grow up in, or they could be passed down genetically from your parents. Like how some couples decide not to have children because they would have a high probBility of developing the mental illness their grandpa has, or something like that. Or, children who grow up in bad households are more likely to learn that they need to do certain things to get attention, etc. Hope that helped!
