there is a great deal of misconception and negative association in regards to psychological disorder, like most any stigma there is a general lack of knowledge  and preconceived notions. What is a way to 'battle' these kinds of things?

getting a diagnosis and treatment will definitely help the patients. However educating the public and negating negative stereotypes will help erode the stigma associated with psychological disorders.
